Mai Ly Degnan is a Florida born illustrator who earned her BFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design and her MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She is currently living in Baltimore, Maryland. Mai Ly is obsessed with tedious line work and pattern making, along with creating humorous illustrations that make light of unfortunate events. She enjoys juxtaposing upsetting subject matter with children's-book-like illustrations. This pairing of opposites often comes across as quirky and offbeat, which is exactly her aesthetic. Some of Mai Ly's favorite things include mermaids, pugs, and John Waters.

Presently, my lab is offering certain paid positions for my grant funded by the National Institutes of Health. Students mostly run Zoom sessions to collect data on students' alcohol-related posts and drinking over the past 30 days.
I'm working towards launching a clinical trial, and I'm working on another grant application that involves the features of specific social media platforms that might prompt students to post different types of alcohol-related content.
My teaching style is student-centric....I strive to actively engage students in course materials, set achievable goals and provide clear feedback. Most importantly, I encourage students to think critically and outside of the box.

Dr. Tsai has authored multiple articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for various ophthalmology journals. Dr. Tsai is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is active with the Arizona and Tucson Ophthalmology Societies.
Dr. Mai has over 20 years of ophthalmic experience. After graduating valedictorian and class president of her high school, she matriculated at the University of Notre Dame and graduated at the top of her class from the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry.

My name is Mai Ly Degnan, and I am a freelance illustrator originally from a tiny town in Florida, and now currently living in Baltimore, MD. Much of my work is inspired by humor, relationships, childhood nostalgia, and awkwardness. I enjoy finding ways to create humorous illustrations using overly angsty stylized characters in everyday situations.
My business is a constant growing process. I guess it started during undergrad, where I studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. A few years later, I was accepted into the MFA Illustration Practice program at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Being accepted into this program was a godsend and it was here especially that I began to find a focus within my work. The way the program was structured allowed for a lot of self analysis which in turn, lead me into thinking of new ways to apply my illustration and build my work as a brand. Within the past two years, aside from freelancing, much of my focus has now been on greeting card and illustrated gift design.
I absolutely love collaborating. Red Cap Cards would be a dream collaboration for sure. Their company showcases some of my favorite illustrators, and their card designs are always so thoughtful and clever. They are always the greeting cards I gravitate towards first when in a store.
Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart launched VAUTE, a cruelty free, sustainable line of coats made in America, out of personal necessity, in 2008. The ex-model was from Chicago and needed a chic and warm cover-up for the city's notoriously bitter winters.
"I realized if I created a coat that was warmer than traditional wool coats, and also ethical, I could most likely create textiles and apparel for a new standard in fashion," says Hilgart. "It took me a year to build the business, including eight months of fabric research and development."
Though VAUTE started with coats, the product line has been expanded to include sweaters, day wear and evening wear. Hilgart's goal is to create a fashion label for people who realize that what they buy affects the environment worldwide, who want to support American made production, and who want something beautiful, different, and functional.
